Toward the end of the 60s, many Sacramento music fans were making the trek to Bill Graham's Fillmore and Chet Helms' Avalon in San Francisco.  Some enterprising folks decided to start a Sacramento version of these ballroom-type clubs and the Sound Factory was created on Alhambra Blvd.  Unfortunately, bad business decisions and an uncooperative constabulary brought the Sound Factory to a close within a year's time.  However, some beautiful artwork remains.
