Davis is a Huge Part of Sacramento Rock History

The University of California at Davis has been a center of Rock
Music promotion since the 60's.  The college, and a few offsite
clubs, have consistantly booked big-name acts and future stars.
Freeborn Hall hosted numerous concerts in the 60s and 70s. At
the end of the 70s, ASUCD launched a series of shows at the tiny
Coffee House showcasing many unknowns: The Police, Elvis Costello,
Dire Straits, Joe Jackson.  When the Rec Hall was built, Davis became
a tour stop for Talking Heads, Nine Inch Nails and others.  Down the
Road, The Palms Playhouse established itself as a center for talent.
