Sacramento was a great town for 60's rock and roll!

Picture
Two competing Top-40 stations, a
few impressive impresarios, and
an eager audience of Baby
Boomers made Sacramento a hot
town for the still-developing
music.  The Beach Boys came
often.  Many groups came from
England.  The Beau Brummels
left the girls swooning.  The
Rolling Stones came FOUR
TIMES in 20 months.  Clubs
sprang up at union halls, shows
were held at Governors Hall on
the State Fairgrounds, and just
about every weekend saw a battle-
of-the-bands where local musicians got a chance to emulate their rock heroes.
