Rock kicks into high gear on KZAP and KSFM

Picture
Progressive album rock fuels growth
in the number of Rock shows.
Sacramento is still limited to the
Memorial Auditorium and a few
college venues.  Crabshaw Corner
opens in 1972 featuring touring
Rock and Blues acts, then becomes
the Oasis Ballroom in 1975.
Mountain Aire draws fans to Angels
Camp.  UC Davis brings New Wave
and Punk to it's tiny Coffee House.
But, for the most part, Rock poster
art takes a rest.  Bill Graham starts
bringing shows to the area.
Roger Shepherd's art dominates with
Logos for both KZAP and KSFM,
for "competing" clubs Crabshaw
Corner and the Shire Road Pub, and
for many major concerts.
Earthradio KSFM didn't make it into
the 80s.  Craig Chaquico got into the
Jefferson Starship.  Timothy B.
Schmit got into the Eagles.
