It Was a Wonderful Time for Live Music

Trends come and go, and it seems like the Sacramento area has seen
many cycles where club DJs dominate the nightlife.  But, in the 70s
and 80s, plenty of clubs hosted live bands giving local musicians a
place to develop.  It was easy to find shows featuring acts playing
Rock, Punk, New Wave, and even Blues.  Fair Oaks had the Shire
Road Pub (after a fire, it moved to Citrus Heights,) the Arden area had
Bitter Creek, Davis had the Coffee House and throughout Sacramento
were the Cattle Club, Club Can't Tell, C Street North, Galactica,
China Wagon, Melarkey's, Beaverbrook's North, Club Minimal,
Slick Willie's, Tootsie's and more.
