Same Influences, Different City

By 1967, Sgt. Pepper, Haight-Ashbury, Viet Nam, and Acid had all
affected life and music.  Sacramento artists (both musical and
graphic) began to shift from Pop to Rock, and promoters began
following the lead of the San Francisco ballrooms with shows aimed
at an older crowd and leaning toward the pshychedelic.  Governor's
Hall, the Trip Room (Aura), and the Sound Factory hosted dozens of
new bands playing the blues-based trippy music that seemed to
originate in California.
