Big Business takes over Rock and Roll, but indies fight back.

Picture
The 1990s saw the demise of both KZAP
and the Cal Expo Amphitheater.  Then the
Eagles came through town at upwards of
$100 a ticket.  Small venues like the Crest
and the Palms continued to book smaller,
newer artists.  Melarkey's closed, the Capital
Garage opened.  It got hard to find mid-level
shows and the Memorial Auditorium was
closed for the first half of the decade.
